Cemal Ucer first established an implant referral centre in 1995. He was awarded an MSc in implantology at Manchester Dental Hospital following his research into guided bone regeneration and osteopromotion, and later he has gained a PhD for his clinical and laboratory studies into the factors affecting the success of implant treatment in iliac grafts and the investigation of the effect of skeletal bone density on implant survival. He has personally trained and mentored more than 1000 dentists in implant dentistry.
His current clinical research interests include immediate implant placement, reconstructive bone surgery, nerve damage and the effect of bone density on success of implant treatment. Academically, he has gained European recognition for his work in development of a new framework for teaching and assessment of clinical competency in implantology. He is a co-author of the consensus paper produced by the Association for Dental Education in Europe (ADEE) following the first pan-European collaboration between EU Universities to establish common training and assessment standards in dental implantology. He is an invited member of the working group convened by the FGDP (UK) and the General Dental Council (GDC) to update the Training Standards in Implant Dentistry (TSID) guidelines in 2012 and 2016.
Cemal is a Fellow of the International Team for Implantology (ITI). He is a member of the editorial board of JOMR (Journal of oral & maxillofacial research) and the chair of the editorial advisory board of Implant Dentistry Today. Cemal is Professor and Clinical Lead of the MSc programme in dental implantology at Edge Hill University and a member of the Faculty of Examiners of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Implant Dentistry. Cemal is a past president of Association of Dental Implantology (UK).

He has been a principal partner of Glencairn Dental group of practices since 2002. He completed the Trafford One Year Implant Course in 2004 and has gone onto complete his Diploma in Implant Dentistry and his MSc in Dental Implantology. Dr Wright is a Senior Lecturer in Implantology at the University of Salford, but also lectures nationally and internationally for Astra Tech, Straumann, the ITI, Mersey Deanery, and on the MSc courses at Manchester, Cardiff and Sheffield.
Simon has won awards for his research papers and is a keen mentor. He also hosts study clubs in the North West and is the Director of Education for the Association of Dental Implantology. He is also proud to be a member of PEERS.
He is the Lead for postgraduate implant training, Chairman of the Advisory Board in Implant Dentistry for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, a Fellow of the International Team for Implantology and a Diplomate of The British Society of Oral Implantology. He is a specialist in Restorative Dentistry, Periodontics, Prosthodontics and Endodontics.
Apart from specialist restorative treatment, his areas of particular interest include aesthetic implant dentistry and management of complex restorative cases including functional and aesthetic rehabilitation of patients with hypodontia and toothwear. Dr Shahdad specialises in treating patients requiring complex and advanced restorative treatment including surgical placement and restoration with dental implants.
He is active in clinical research and has secured various research grants. He is a co-author of a textbook in periodontology and implant dentistry as well as publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
He also runs a multi-specialist referral practice in the West End of London.
She is Divisional Clinical Director of the Eastman Dental Hospital and also the Lead for dental implants at the Eastman as well as being Clinical Tutor for the trainees and Programme Director for the Dental SHOs. She is widely recognised for her specialist interests in periodontology and implantology and lectures and teaches widely in these topics. She also holds a number of external positions for the Royal Colleges and specialist Societies.
Vicki has extensive experience in dental implant nursing as Professor Ucer’s Practice Lead and Theatre Manager at Manchester Dental Implant Clinic/ ICE Hospital and Postgraduate Institute- a leading centre of excellence in implantology in the UK.
Vicki and Professor Ucer run training courses for dentists, hygienists & therapists & DCPs and provide support and mentoring in dental implantology to all members of the dental team.
Vicki is a qualified dental radiographer and NEBDN witness & tutor on the current NEBDN post-registration certificate course in dental implant nursing. Vicki is a Veintrain trainer for venopuncture & cannulation.
Vicki has special interests in conscious sedation, operating theatre nursing for advanced oral surgical procedures, dental radiography, 3D navigation surgery, PRF technology and venopuncture & cannulation. Vicki has extensive experience in intra-oral scanning and CBCT imaging for Co-Diagnostix guided surgery planning.
